Hi, I’m Alix.

I am a writer focusing in personal essay and memoir.

My work in progress is titled Multiples, a reference to my late twin sister Katie and my experiences coping with her death which came shortly before the tragic loss of each of my parents.

I was born into a family of writers and journalists and have spent the last 10 years merging my work as a trauma survivor and licensed mental health professional with my commitment to putting the unclear edges of my lived traumatic experiences into my writing. While I have often referred to myself as a traumatized trauma therapist, my identity as a writer has helped me reclaim my creative process beyond the container of psychotherapy.

Through my undergraduate and graduate experiences at Kenyon College and The School of Visual Arts, I have always felt deeply committed to art making, healing and story.

My writing has allowed me to connect with my local community within the Hudson Valley, NY through live readings, story slams, and local events.

If you are exploring the intersection of writing, trauma and healing, I would love to share my work with you.
